The World's First Underground Hotel!
The world’s first underground hotel -- InterContinental Shaghai -- was opened in China in 2018.
- Situated in an 88-meter-deep, water-filled, disused quarry, the 337-guestroom Intercontinental Shanghai Wonderland Hotel contains only two levels above ground, with 16 more levels plunging into the quarry below.
- The construction seems to grow straight out of the rocky cliffs, and its central element is a glass waterfall that flows over the roof like a river, hiding the observation lifts inside it.
The hotel has also an underwater restaurant and aquarium.
